Conduct a Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test of statistical significance on each of the two sets of data that you collected (i.e., own nest vs. foreign nest comparison and own nest vs. non-nest comparison). The hypothesis tested is that the ants cannot distinguish between their own nest soil and foreign soil or their own nest soil and non-nest soil. This is called a "null" hypothesis; you can reject this hypothesis as a result of your analysis if your analysis establishes that the ants demonstrate a statistically significant preference for their own nest material.
