DISC Reflection Paper ABA 610 National University
Abstract Everyone has a different communication style which is a way they can exchange and in- teract information with other people. It is very important that we learn and understand each dif- ferent communication style and why certain people use different ones. In this reflection paper I will be talking about how my communication traits affects people I work with and my job at- mosphere. I will also be talking about my communication style in comparison with another per- son who has the opposite communication style as myself and how we conflict and can work to- gether. My results The results that I received were D/S which is a blend dominant/supportive. It suggested that my dominant traits were a little stronger than my supportive traits. This style is known as the cross -style because the primary trait I have comes from styles that are across the DISC pattern. I learned that this combination occurs in an only a small amount of people. I am task oriented and people oriented but I lean more on the task-oriented approach, I am outgoing when it comes to approaching task and more reserved when it comes to approaching people. I said that I am more likely to solve problems in practical ways. I am practical, driven industrious and helpful. In an article about the diving deeper into the DISC. It described a person with the Dominant trait as being motivated by competition, success and winning, they would prioritize accepting challenges and taking action achieving immediate results. They are direct demanding, forceful, strong willed, driven fast paced and self-confident. They can have a lack of concern for others, very skeptical and impatient. Do not like to be seen venerable or taken advantage of. They would
most likely value, action, concrete results personal freedom and challenges. People with domi- nant traits might need to learn or use more energy to practice showing patience, showing sensi- tivity, allowing for deliberation and get into the details. They thrive on the control of the audi- ence, new opportunities, independence and special accomplishments. When I first glanced at this, I didn’t think this fit me very well. Then as I started digging deeper there were some things that I agree with. When I am assigned tasks, I usually do take the lead, but I am not overbearing where I don’t want anyone’s help collaborating. I love working with people because it gives me a different perspective that I might not have thought about.
