1. Define health and wellness. Figure 1.1 on p. 4 illustrates the dimensions of health and the wellness continuum. What are some of the most important elements of health and wellness? Explain your response. The definition of health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not just the absence of disease or infirmity. Wellness is more than just a state of physical health. It also includes emotional stability, clear thinking, the ability to love, create, embrace change, exercise intuition and experience a continuing sense of spirituality. Some of the most important elements of health and wellness are as follows: Physical health such as staying in shape and eating healthy. Social health refers to having healthy interactions in appropriate relationships in society along with adapting to social settings. Intellectual health is the ability to think clearly to meet life’s challenges. Emotion health is being able to express emotion appropriately and knowing when they are inappropriate in things such as love, self-esteem, trust, and other emotional reactions. Environmental health is appreciating the environment around you. Spiritual heath is religion and its practices with the meaning of life. 2. After viewing Unfinished Business featuring Sarah Reinertsen, explain how a positive mind-set can help individuals overcome life’s challenges. How might having a healthy balance of mind and body help you accomplish your life goals? A Positive mind-set can help individuals overcome lots of life’s challenges. A positive mind can help one to set goals and push an individual’s limits to achieve the goal. The more positive one is and the more positivity around an individual will help keep motivations and spirits up. I believe having a healthy balance of mind and body will help me accomplish my life goals. If I know I can do
