Week 4 Discussion 1 Post a 150- to 300-word response to the following discussion question by clicking on Reply: According to p. 62 (Ch. 3), how does the textbook define stress? What are some common stressors? What are some strategies for coping with stress? After reading chapter 3, the text book defines stress as follows and I do quote “The experience of a perceived threat (real or imagined) to one’s well-being, resulting from a series of physiological responses or adaptations”. Which, I is rest assured that most people will agree that this is true even though in a good number of cases we are capable of creating our very own stress. Some of the most common stressors are as follows: Time management, school, work, kids and family, and financial techniques. I have listed these common stress factors because they are some of the most popular means to having stress in our lives. Life is not always peachy or it would not be called life. No one is near perfect, we all have stress and other hardships for if we did not we would not be called humans; we would just be called emotionless and we would just be robots. There are lots of different ways we can cope with our stress and the things that cause us to have stress in our lives. Everyone has different ways of dealing with the stress or stresses that they have. Some might use these following techniques : stop , close your eyes and take a few deep breathes and relax, get up and take a walk or exercise, eating healthy, time management, take a relaxing shower or bath Yes , these are all different ways to deal with our stresses . But some might find it hard to just get up and go for a walk or take a relaxing bath or shower in the middle of a work day; especially if one works a forty hour work week.
