PSY/201 {Insert type of therapy approach} {Insert type of therapy approach} {Insert type of therapy approach} Summary of Approach Psychodynamic Approach to Therapy Psychodynamic therapy seeks to bring unresolved past conflicts and unacceptable impulses from the unconscious into the conscious, where patients may deal with their problems more effectively. Psychodynamic approaches are based on Freud’s psychoanalytic approach to personality, which holds individual employ defense mechanisms, in which psychological strategies are used to help protect themselves from unacceptable unconscious impulses.
