Prostate Gland: secretes buffers, citric acid, clotting and unclotting enzymes Seminal Vesicle: secretes enzymes; Vitamin C, Fructose; Prostaglandins Cowper’s Gland: mucus; buffers Seminiferous Tubules: coiled structures inside testes; store spermatogonia; synthesize 200 million sperm per day Epididymis: Tightly coiled cord on the dorsal side of testis; stores sperm Vas deferens: Transports sperm through ejaculatory duct and to the urethra 2. Name and explain the function of the two cell types found in the seminiferous tubules. Leydig Cells: express LH receptors; produce testosterone and DHT Sertoli Cells: Act as phagocytes; Translocate sperm to seminiferous tubule lumen; secrete AMH; secrete inhibin and activin; secrete estradiol; maintain health of spermatogonia; form the blood-testis barrier; secrete ABPs. 3. List the regulators of gonadotropin release. Inhibin; Activin; Androgens; Estradiol 4. Outline the meiotic divisions that give rise to haploid sperm.
