Cultural Foundations III Liberal Studies Packard T02.0103.008 Assignment for Essay #2 is due in class on Monday, April 18, 2011 You have been studying texts that use fragmentation in different ways to reflect a Modernist sensibility. In your second essay for this class, please synthesize an analysis of at least 2 works from different mediums (a book, a song, a painting, or a film) produced in the decade after World War II (about 1945-1960), during the escalation of the Cold War. Your essay should make a claim about what these works are trying to say to their readers/viewers/listeners by using this technique. Choose from the following lists. (You may propose other texts of the 1950s and ‘60s period, but please check with me before proceeding.) Write a 5-7 page essay comparing and contrasting the strategy of fragmentation in each. First, you should define what fragmentation means within each work. Look for continuities that are broken, and comment on possible cultural or social significances of these ruptures.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
