Eating disorders can cause a variety of health problems, some of them so severe as to cause death. Anorexia nervosa symptoms include severe weight loss, menstrual abnormalities, constipation, restlessness, as well as a host of physical issues that are the result of starvation. Those suffering from bulimia nervosa will often suffer from damage to their gastrointestinal tract including: tooth decay, sores in the mouth and on the lips, swollen jaws and salivary glands, irritation of the throat, esophageal inflammation. The bulimic person can also suffer from an electrolyte imbalance, dehydration, muscle weakness, and menstrual irregularities. Sufferers of bulimia nervosa can suffer from dehydration which can result in reduced mental capacities, nausea, muscle cramps, and death. People with anorexia nervosa will starve their bodies for the vital nutrients they need for a healthy body. The lack of proper nutrition can result in a breakdown of tissue and muscle and can cause failure of several vital organs. Bulimics will often be overweight and can suffer from cardiovascular disease, diabetes and a slew of other related problems....
