Introduction The main purpose for this lab is studying the effect from different cutting conditions to the cutting force and the temperature during a cutting process by doing several experiments on a workpiece on a lathe. Each experiment is done under different combinations of the cutting conditions among speed, feed, depth-of-cut and whether cutting fluid is applied. The data of cutting force and temperature from the experiments is used to determine the relationship between cutting force and the conditions, and the relationship between temperature and the conditions. Equipment There are four basic items used in this lab. The first one is a rotational steel specimen, where the cutting occurs. The second one is the lathe with variable speed drive to change the speed, feed and depth-of-cut, and a pipe to apply cutting fluid to the workpiece. The third one is the data

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
