Common Sense was so popular because it publicly denounced British rule and urged colonies to choose a revolution. Although not very accurate in presenting facts, it spelled out very clearly why it was so important to gain Independence; Independence which had to be decided on by the people. Common Sense, which was one of the ever most influential documents ever published in America at that time, urged people to take a stand in what they believed in to be right. It also served as clarity to the confusing often displayed concerning other American colonies and how they felt about being independent from the British. Understanding the audience in which he was writing to, Paine wrote so that his message could be easily understood and interpreted by any literate colonist no matter his profession or trade.
