Organizations can have a major impact on the society in which they are embedded. These impacts can be either helpful or harmful, and include intended consequences as well as consequences that are not intended. The reason behind this is the fact that organizations are created in order to achieve something. It is therefore inevitable that thy will have some sort of impact on the society in which they are embedded. There are several specific impacts organizations have on the society. Something that us commonly found among organizations is the phenomenon known as interlocks. Interlocks are the control of multiple organizations by a single group, and serve a variety of purposes. Interlocks can be viewed as a prerequisite for sound management or a way to give the group an edge on the competition.
