Workplace Emotions Attitudes and Stress 2 Abstract Companies and researchers around the world are discovering that the understanding of emotions, attitudes, and stress in the workplace would provide the knowledge and the tools for working well with and through others. Emotions have an effect on almost everything we do in the workplace. Often, these emotions are affected by the attitude a person has towards a person, object, or event.

Workplace Emotions Attitudes and Stress 3 The Effect Of Emotions, Attitudes And Stress In The Workplace While most people believe that the emotions, attitudes, and stress that people have during an eight-hour shift at a workplace has effects on their personal life, I would say the contrary. Personal life is what people drag into the workplace daily. “ It was found that job stress and role stress have a significant effect on emotional exhaustion, and that work-family conflict has a positive effect on emotional exhaustion” ( Yu, 2010 ) Having started working at the age of seventeen like most Americans, I have seen how emotions, attitudes and stress play a big factor in the workplace. My first job was an internship at the Office of Organizational Development. OOD was the office where public school principals and teachers would go when they needed help in achieving effectiveness, becoming efficient, or asking questions. I had fun there; people would take turns in bringing drinks, snacks, and sometimes lunch. Whenever someone was feeling down or sad people would go and comfort him or her. They would also encourage people to take breaks if the work was too hectic or stressful. In some instances I was given money to go buy myself ice cream from across the office. On the other hand, it was also noticeable when the directors were stressed because it would produce a domino effect on everyone. I also worked at the front desk of a gym. I remember seeing four different store managers in a period of a year. Eventually they hired a stabled new store manager. He would come to work very aggressive and had animosity towards all the employees there. A week later myself and three other coworkers of mine decided to quit due to lack of leadership and bad management. Few weeks’ later people found out that the new manager was getting a divorce. At my current job Barron’s Lumber everyone is both professional and layback including the officers of the company. From time to time you see the president making jokes with the sales team and the customers. You could also see that everyday the vice president would
