IHP 501 Final Project Two Milestone OnePolicy Proposal and InterviewTrina Cox09/17/2020
In 1996 the Congress passed a law called the HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). This federal law helps patient’s information to be protected. As this law is nationally followed nothing about a patient can be misused or wasted without the patient consent. Under the HIPPA, HHS introduced a Privacy Rule in 2000. This regulated that identifiable health information that is shared between organizations that it is confidentially; the integrity is intact, and it is availability of electronic health information (HHS.gov, n.d.). An important objective is to reduce administrative costs for providers and payers while protecting the privacy of health information. The impact of HIPAA on the healthcare industry will be felt nationally, and its Federal legislative requirements are unavoidable (Who Does HIPPA apply to? ,2018).
