half-life. Procedure: 1. The room was checked for background radiation with the use of a Geiger Müller counter. The number of beeps per minute were counted and recorded. This was carried out three times and the average was taken. 2. One of the three objects was taken and the radioactivity was measured with the use of the Geiger Müller counter. Again the beeps per minutes were counted and the average was taken at the end after the trials. 3. The type of radiation (alpha, beta, gamma) was found out by using a piece of paper, an aluminum plate and a thick metal plate. 4. This procedure was carried out for all the objects.
