Mark Dee Professor Sue Ann Skipworth POL 1013-004/901 February 20 th , 2012 The American Halt The United States government has been recently accused of infringing upon the rights its citizens; this is in due part to the recent discussions pertaining to abortion and abortive coverage. The United States has, in a way, transgressed upon certain boundaries, depending on where one stands. If one stands from a vantage point where abortion is morally unacceptable, then the government is infringing. However, if not holding this position, the United States is not infringing on anyone’s rights, rather providing its citizens with further protection from unwanted babies. Freedom of religion is granted by the 1 st Amendment; there are detractors who would state that these pro-abortion positions held by the government go against the 1 st Amendment, and that the government is taking a position as pro-choice, and thus, offering a government that does not have a separated church and state. However, proponents of the coverage might argue instead, that the
