Objectives: This course develops the financial tools and knowledge needed to select among alternative financial assets. The emphasis is on the individual investor. It covers the fundamental concepts of investment theory, financial markets, and financial instruments. LEARNING GOALS: Understand various financial instruments. Understand the mechanics of securities markets. Understand mutual funds and various forms of investment companies. Solve portfolio selection problems. Solve problems related to various asset pricing models. Understand the efficient market hypothesis. Solve bond and bond portfolio problems.
