Legislators Sales promotions – programs that build interest in a product and stimulate that immediate purchase, during a defined sales period Bolster sales immediately. Sales promotion is best used with other types of promotion Consumer sales promotion: 1. Price based 2. Attention getting Trade promotion tools: intermediaries: -focus is on the retailers and wholesalers, stock and carry the product, allocate shelf space, and promote and push the product to the consumer Consumer promotion tools: Coupons – most common of price based promotion Cash refunds or rebates – temporary price reduction to stimulate sales Deals – offers the consumer more product for the money
