Professor Hodson Sociology 101 8th of March 2012 Choices of the modern age worker This paper will exhibit an analysis of what the employees of a local mall seek and how their aspired status contrasts with their current status . There will be described concepts & interpreted materials within the interviews to provide clarity as to the subjects’ view on their status . There is not a particular focus on any one store, and interview subjects ranged from cashiers to employees who spoke little English. While the effects of status will be the primary focus of this research; hierarchy and observation of norms do have impacting affects in the lives of the mall employees and will be analyzed as well. This ethnographic research paper is intended to illustrate what a day in the life of an everyday mall employee is like and how that affects their goals and desires. Mall ( /môl/): 1.
