ABSTRACT Nitric acid, the target product of the present work is a highly corrosive mineral acid. The pure compound is colourless, but older samples tend to acquire yellow colour. It is used in manufacturing of explosives, fertilizers, various organic nitro compounds also it is used as rocket fuel and in many other fields. Aim of this work is to design a plant for production of Nitric Acid. Detailed calculations were performed in this report for the equipments in the plant including material balance, energy balance, design taking into account the required process conditions to achieve production capacity of 20000 TPA of Nitric Acid.
