Ian Lay 713723018 Biology 101 Lab – Sec 413 I. Introduction A. Background of subject under study 1. Humans interact with bacteria and fungi everyday because they are present in almost every object. 2. With the constant findings of reasons bacteria found in our environment are unhealthy, soap companies have inserted chemicals into their soaps the specifically target bacteria. B. Observations 1. Because bacteria can cause disease, people have gotten used to the routine of washing their hands after coming in contact with dirty objects. 2. Is the soap you use to wash your hands really makes a difference? C. Hypothesis 1. If the antibacterial strength of Harris Teeter Liquid Soap and Ivory Liquid Soap are compared, then the Harris Teeter brand will reduce the amount of bacteria on one’s fingers 15% more than the Ivory brand. This is because the Harris Teeter soap lists an active ingredient (Triclosan) while Ivory leaves one to wonder. II. Materials and Methods
