EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This project discovers the growth opportunities present in the telecom industry and also highlight the key areas which Airtel telecommunication need to put emphasis to improve its business performance in India. Airtel is the market leader in India which has business in more than 20 countries. They have a massive customer base of over 350 million customers. The company provide large number of products and services to its customers. Nowadays, the presence of strong middle-income customers, population growth, low tele- density, growing demand for the usage of high internet etc. are some factors which contribute to the growth of telecom companies in India. The entrance of Reliance Jio with free phone calls, high speed internet, SMS and free complimentary subscription to Jio application intensified the competition present in the telecom sector. Indian customers are known for its price sensitive nature so that most of them tend to purchase affordable products and services with good quality. It presents challenge for the existing telecom operator. The price sensitive nature of Indian customers can be clearly identified from the substantial growth of Reliance Jio. Cost leadership won`t be an effective option in this market so that low pricing strategies or competitive strategies will be a best option. Brand image doesn`t have much importance in the Indian market. The Airtel need to become more competent to tackle the moves of Reliance Jio and other competitors. This study mainly focusses on elements such as human capital, business process, market and financial performance for evaluating the performance of Airtel. Some recommendations are made in the last section which would be helpful for the company improve its market share. Company have extensive nationwide coverage but in some remote places they need to partner with other telecom operators to provide uninterrupted services to its customers. They should advertise more social networking sites and introduce more affordable sales promotional offers like Jio. It is essential for the company to make improvement in its Value-added services enhances the loyalty of customers.
