Hera Hammad November 22, 2016 HIS 121 Professor Green The Man in Control Sarah Grimke grew up in a privileged household, which allowed her to not only see the inequalities between the superior white man and the enslaved blacks, but allowed her to experience a similar type of enslavement between a white man and white woman. You can see in Sarah Gremke calls for women’s rights , Gremke describes how the white mans desire to control and be superior started within a mans household, “The lust of dominion was probably the first affect of the fall; and as there was no other intelligent being over whom to exercise it, woman was the first victim of this unhallowed passion” 1 .
