Comm. Chapter 11- Building the Affirmative Case All cases both value and polity must establish “ prima facie case ”- A case that in and of itself provides good and sufficient reason for adopting the proposition. It must provide effective issue statements to answer each of the stock issues. Requirements of Value Cases- 1) Provide Satisfactory Definition- defining terms and meaning of prop. Statement 2) Provide Satisfactory Criterion- 3) Provide Application- If the value set in prop is accepted, wt will happen? 4) Prove Intrinsicness- Topics essential to the case 5) Significance -The Degree of importance or impact attached to an issue. The advocate must prove that the essential elements of the case are quantitatively and/or qualitatively important. Also applies to the relative importance of an argument. Requirements of a Policy Case- 1) Topical 2) Prove Inherency-must prove (1) the essential elements of its case are inherent, (2) that the harms it identifies are caused by the status quo, and thus (3) that
