Lauren Taylor English 111 Troy Hickman The Pursuit of Happyness The Pursuit of Happyness is based on a true story about a man, Chris Gardner (Will Smith) who struggles a great amount to barley get by from day to day. He wants more for his family and is fed up with his current job as a medical supplies salesman in San Francisco. His five year old son (Jaden Smith) is attending a broke down daycare that they can’t afford, and his wife (Thandie Newton) is working double shifts, and they still aren’t making rent in time. Chris is motivated by the happy faces coming from a stockbroker building one day, and decides to apply for a yearlong internship that eventually rewards only one of the twenty interns a job. Eventually they are evicted from their current home and have to go live in a motel. During the day Chris walks around town trying to sell his scanners, which isn’t going to well and ends up putting them on the streets, everyday moving from one homeless shelter to the next. One night even staying behind the locked doors of a metro station bathroom. He goes great lengths throughout this movie trying to change his life for the better to benefit himself and his son. After working extremely hard for the internship he is picked for the job and becomes a Wall Street legend!...
