Mary O’Connor Lab 5 Flow Sheet 3/24 Part A: 1. Peel a potato and cut into cubes. Weigh out 50g of potato. 2. Place the 50g along with 80mL of H2O and 150mL of crushed ice into a blender. 3. Bled for 1 minute. 4. Place a cheesecloth (2 layers) into a funnel. Filter the potato puree through into a 250mL graduated cylinder. Squeeze remaining liquid out of the pulp. 5. Add distilled water until volume is 200mL 6. Pour the mix into a 250mL Erlenmeyer flask. Label this Stock Enzyme Solution (100 units of catalase/ml). 7. Label 7 50mL beakers as follows: E1 (100 units catalase/ml) E2 (75 units catalase/ml) E3 (50 units catalase/ml) E4 (25 units catalase/ml) E5 (12.5 units catalase/ml) E6 (5 units catalase/ml) E7 (0units catalase/ml) 8. Figure out how to make these solutions, each beaker needs 40mL of the enzyme concentration. Check with TA before proceeding. 9. Label another set of 50mL beakers S1-S7. Pipette 40mL of 3% H2O2 into each beaker. 10. Stir E1 solution, use the forceps to immerse a paper disk into the solution for 5
