HEALTH DEMAND AND POPULATION HEALTH2Health care stakeholders need to invest in value-based care to be able to support theconsumer experience and demand from the American people. Evolving consumer expectations, evolving health technology and ecosystems, rising health care costs, and changing patientdemographics are just a few items organizations need to perform high on (Deloitte, 2020). Asthe demand for health care coverage in the United States (U.S.) raises, so does the value of thathealth care system both by consumer and organization expectations. People around the UnitedStates (U.S.) go to great lengths to ensure they are living a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, inAmerica the health food, diet markets, and exercise programs is a multibillion-dollar business(Henderson, 2018). Whether an individual commits to a healthy life style change one thing is forcertain the money will be spent to attempt the change. Medical care is one section thatcontributes to improving the populations health. Other sections to improving health status is,income, education, environment, lifestyle factors, and genetics (Henderson, 2018). Whenunderstanding that improving health corelates to the health care demand and patient experience.A dialogue can be created, and processes can move forward to better support those individualand family needs, economy, and medical outcomes.Demand for Health and Medical CareDeloitte (2020) “With global health care spending expected to rise at a CAGR of 5percent in 2019-23, it will likely present many opportunities for the sector” (p. 1). This willpotentially bring positive and negative changes to the health care demand in the United States(U.S.) with a growing and aging population. The longer individuals live the longer theseindividuals will have health needs. Health care demand is not just about people improving theirhealth to feel better but also with the intention to be more productive (Henderson, 2018).However, obesity in America is on the rise and this is a preventable illness but still increases the
HEALTH DEMAND AND POPULATION HEALTH3risks of diabetes, stroke, and heart disease (Babalola, 2017). Since these types of patients do nottake their health in great consideration it allows the health care system to be misused andtherefore raises the cost of doing business. Which is what health care is, a business. As healthcare resources increase and preventable illnesses increases, this causes the demand in health careto rise as well. With demand rising every day it creates the price of the service to increase aswell. This is why health care has become so costly because more and more resources are beingused and according to Dixon-Fyle and Kowalliki, countries like America will spend about 20%of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2050 (Babalola, 2017).
