Socialization-Deviance Debate Prep Note that you are expected to develop arguments for both sides of each debate question based on a) supplemental readings (i.e., Blumstein & Benedict, 1999; Eccles & Barber, 1999; Foley, 1990; Forbes et al., 2006; Messner & Bozada-Deas,2009 for this debate), b) corresponding chapters and class discussion/lectures, and c) one source of your own. A substantial portion of the grade that you receive for your debate notes (35%) is based on the extent to which you cite and draw reasonable conclusions from the relevant studies and arguments discussed in the text/lectures. To aid you in this process, here is a list of the studies described in reasonable detail in the corresponding readings that should be incorporated into your arguments. An “A” set of debate notes will include not only these cites into debate arguments, but will also incorporate the supplemental readings (see list in previous paragraph), one outside source of your own, relevant arguments from Coakley (2009) and lectures (Knoester 2012), class discussion, and your own ideas.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
