TPCASST The Elders Drum1.Title- The title could be about following the footsteps of someones elder.Paraphrase- the smoke rises from the fire as they drum and sing around it, my love grows as weshare the rituals. Noticing my grandfathers age and how he looks so frail yet sings with suchclarity making my spirit rejoice in the song of my people. He gives us the dignity to be,determine the spirit and be proud of the heritage. Our grandfather leave us the path, and thesacred song.Connotation- the speaker admires his grandfather and the pride he has as he sings his songwhich gives the speaker more pride for his people.Attitude- love, admiration, proud.Shifts- the shift in this poem would be at the beginning when the speaker is talking about theritual and then towards the end when he focuses on the grandfather.Title- Before I read this I suggested it was about following the footsteps of someones elder. Ithink I was close considering the poem is about the elder who holds the drum which represents
