Therany Dunnigan 07/08/11 Sociology The main ideas of chapter five “Becoming Human” by Michael Schwalbe were about learning from you and from others within the social world. Being human sociologically requires a way of thinking and feeling depending on what kind of circumstance you are in based on the chapter. As well as reacting and learning how we are suppose to adapt emotionally to certain situations properly. In order to become human you must define your own identity and success but still know that working with others and being around people helps you along the way. In this chapter I actually agree with a lot of Schwalbe’s way of thinking about how to really “become human”. In order to be human sociologically speaking you have to identify yourself as a part of society and still be your person. You have to be able to function on your but still be able to accept the fact that you can’t do everything by yourself. One day you may need
