In 2011, American troops departed from Iraqafter fighting in a war for eight terrifying years. Due to a victory, The Iraqi leader, Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki and President Obama decided to meet up in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the occasion. While Maliki was in Washington, D.C., he received a call from Baghdad regarding his vice president, Tareq al Hashemi. Maliki was told that Hashemi was planning a terrorist attack on Shia targets and Maliki had to find a way to stop him. As a result, he turned to President Obama for assistance, but President Obama stated that it was an internal issue and he did not want to get America involved again. Maliki then ordered Hashemi and his guards to be arrested and many other Sunnis were captured.
