Hallie Benezra PYCC100: HW# 1 1/25/07 Hypothesis: When given 750 mL (or 3 cans) of Red Bull a day for 7 days, participants will experience an overall decrease in regular brain functions. Experiment : Every day for 7 days, 5 out of 10 total participants will consume 3 bottles of red bull a day. The other 5 participants will receive a similar tasting drink, the placebo, but with none of the elements of an energy drink. Neither the researcher nor participant will know whether they are receiving the real energy drink or the placebo, illustrating a double blind experiment. The independent variable is the precise dosage of energy drink. The dependent variable is the responses each of the participants gave at the end of the week of study. The decrease in brain functions is operationally defined by what studies have proven to be normal movements and feelings.
