The video was posted on May 29, 2020 and Beyonce speaks aboutGeorge Floyd’s death and how we witnessed his murder in broad daylight. She states that we needjustice for George Floyd and we’re all disgusted by the ongoing police brutality and racism. It is difficultto normalize this pain and she is not only speaking to the people of colour, but every human no mattertheir skin colour. A quote from Beyonce “If you’re white, black, brown or anything in between, I’m sureyou feel hopeless by the racism going on in America right now. No more senseless killing of humanbeings, no more seeing people of colour as less than human- we can no longer look away.”. she says thatGeorge Floyd is all of our family in humanity because he is a fellow American. There has been too manyof these violent killings without justice for the victims and their families and although someone has beencharged- justice is far from being achieved. Beyonce respondedto the critiques with “No violence will create peace, to effect change we must show lovein the face of hate and peace in the face of violence.” However, this article shows anopposing side to Beyonce’s activism because they aren’t understanding her message-claiming that she is inciting bad behavior in her fans. Beyonce responds with “I have somuch admiration and respect for officers and the families of officers who sacrificethemselves to keep us safe, but let’s be clear: I am against police brutality and injustice.Those are two separate things.” The source gives insight on people who critique oroppose Beyonce because they do not understand her message, but Beyonce responds willto their criticism.
