The American Revolutionary era especially for Americans was crucial because it decided between their freedom or continuation under the control of a British monarch. Citizens were unhappy with the situation that they had come to because the duties on raw material increased, civil right were restricted and British military took severe actions against the colonist which caused a rebellion among Americans who were tired of being by a monarch. Americans had the right to rebel against Britain because parliamentary taxation caused Americans to pay duties whish meant that they would have to pay a debt they weren’t responsible for. The government restricted their freedom of assembly, freedom of religion, and freedom of speech therefore their legal rights were being denied to them, and the British military measures and actions were making colonist fight. The first taxation that the patriots (Americans who rebelled) had to deal with was the Sugar Act of 1764 passed by the English Parliament to pay the debt that the seven year war had brought. This act increased the duties on imported sugar, textiles, wine, and coffee and indigo, it also doubled the duties of foreign goods and prohibit the import of foreign rum and French wines. Americans angered with the sugar act because it meant that the price to import raw material would increase and nobody like to pay extra. Shortly the angry Americans started to protest on the act and the duties were lowered considerably which also made the protest stop. The decrease of the duties was a great accomplishment but during 1765 English parliament, Grenville, passed an act that was
