In society, many wrongs affect a majority of people in both economic and societal situations. These examples are found throughout media, in both written and oral documents. For instance, Michael Moore's film, Sicko , and Paul Farmer's text, “Listening for Prophetic Voices: A Critique of Market-Based Medicine,” both discuss how the healthcare system is flawed. Michael Moore is a well-known filmmaker who creates works focused on social and economic problems within the United States. He is famous for his provocative documentaries that criticize business corporations, politicians and social wrongs. In his film, Moore criticizes healthcare bureaucracies and companies that deny treatment to the ill in order to gain profit. Paul Farmer is an international activist and doctor who strives to inform the world of healthcare flaws and ways to solve these problems. In his text, he argues that the medical system uses medicine as commerce. When looking at Moore's film through the eyes of Paul Farmer, it is shown that universal healthcare could be a reality if healthcare is seen less as a transaction, and more as a right. In his film, Michael Moore interviews Americans who have been denied treatment by health care insurance companies, companies who sacrifice essential health services in order to maximize profits.
