The member themselves define what the norms are. Because norms generally have strong support from the group, they cannot easily be changed. Redistribution of power – Reorganization implies a redistribution of power and influence. Individuals who perceive that a change will lessen their influence will strongly resist such changes. Disturb existing social networks – Friendship or informal teams may be threatened by changes. The stronger the group ties, the greater the resistance to change.
