Which of the culture and caring theories most resonates with you for your practice as an NP? How does the theory integrate the nursing paradigm? What parts of the theory do you identify with? How does the theory help to meet CLAS standards to advance health equity?Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring resonated with me the most. Her theory provides principle ways of caring for others, but also emphasizes caring for yourself. Implementing this theory within my future practice would positively affect my patients and myself. This theory highlights three of the four core concepts of the nursing paradigm; it discusses the importance of person, environment, and health. In her theory Jean Watson emphasizes being authentic. I believe this is so important for NPs. Healthcare is a serious field and we must be present with our patients through their healthcare journey. In order to be authentic, NPs need to participate in self reflection (Watson Caring Science Institute, 2020). Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring is all about authentically being present for our patients and providing person centered, holistic care.
