Butts, B. J. & Rich, L. K. (2018). Philosophies and Theories For Advanced Nursing Practice (3rd ed.). Burlington, MA: Jones & Bartlett Learning. Chapter 2, pp. 21-31, Chapter 4De Leon-Demare, K., MacDonald, J., Gregory, M. D., Katz, A., & Halas, G. (2013). Articulating nurse practitioner practice using King's theory of goal attainment. Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. 27(11), 631-636.This is my initial course for nursing theory, so I am extremely interested in learning just how theory plays a role into our profession. Our readings this week demonstrated just how import theory is to the nursing profession. De Leon-Demare, MacDonald, Gregory, Katz, and Halas used KIng’s nursing theory of attainment to better understand the relationships between patients and Nurse Practitioners. This study was able to verify that using King’s theory allowed Nurse Practitioners and patients to agree upon health goals, while maintaining a respectful environment.
