The Risks of Disease Timothy M. Purcell-Baron Keiser University When looking at the risk factors associated with many diseases in the world today, it can be an overwhelming thought to consider where you my stand on the risk factor scale. This is in part because of the severity of the affects that these diseases can have on the quality of one’s life. I for one hate physicals due to the nature of my past employment. I never know if a tuberculosis test will be positive or a cancer screening will come back with a positive result. Its daunting and I completely understand the scare that can be had, but it’s a good way to learn about these diseases as well as a possible avenue of implementing strong preventative measures. The risk factors for cancer are what I chose to explore due to my past activities during deployments and exposure to the burn pits throughout Iraq and Afghanistan. I was also a smoker as a teen for a few years but quit and have held a very healthy and active lifestyle since then. I try
