Where they were able, Europeans conquered these indigenous peoples and established colonies. The world’s recovery from European colonialism is ongoing, and is the source for many issues confronting global society today. 2/17/08 Some Questions About Indigenous Peoples and their Rights: Do people today have an obligation to right past wrongs? How far back in time does individual responsibility go? To what extent should reparations be made, and is this time sensitive? How important is it to preserve indigenous life-ways?
