MCM0088 傳播與認同研究 Instructor: 蔡如音 (Eva Tsai) Studies of Communication and Identities [email protected] Thursday 10 12 in 703 教室 Graduate Institute of Mass Communication National Taiwan Normal University 師大大傳所 Course Description In this globalized and post/modern world, it is getting harder and harder to grasp a sense of “belongingness.” While still important, familiar axels of reference (e.g. nation states, class, gender, and ethnicity) are increasingly placed against far more complex and fluid grids of determinations. Articulating belongingness may be a messy, even unpleasant task, yet the feeling is central to our private and public experiences. It is also a shared problematic in a number of academic disciplines—though it is often debated in rather different manners and vocabulary. This course takes an integrative approach toward identifying collective imaginations of belongingness as related to historical and geopolitical conflicts and dominations. The course is designed to (1) offer students basic knowledge about the postcolonial discourses, (2) to enrich graduate students’ historical and global sense of belongingness, and (3) to help students develop the ability to think about communication and media issues across global cultures and nations.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
