The Cold WarFollowing the second world war the tension between the two superpowers, the USSR andthe US, grew immensely. Through proxy wars and propaganda, they tried to show both theworld and each other who the strongest of them were. This led to several crises duringwhich the world held their breath, fearing nuclear extinction. In this essay I will compare andcontrast the causes of two crisis during the cold war, the Berlin airlift crisis and the Cubanmissile crisis.Both the Berlin airlift crisis and the Cuban missile crisis were caused because of USinvolvement in Europe. The direct cause of the Berlin airlift crisis was the France, UK, and Uswish for a united currency in West-Germany, but another cause is the Marshall plan, wherethe US helped European countries rebuild, but only if they were a democratic state. A causefor the Cuban missile crisis was the missiles the US had put in Italy, UK, and mostimportantly Turkey, all of whom could reach the USSR. These missiles terrified the USSR and
