Kayli PerezCleveland Public School’s Teacher’s Handbook In this document it is showing what the handbook for a public school teacher would look like in Cleveland. It has some similarities and some differences from today. The first thing I noticed while reading the handbook was when it stated, “Any married teacher who becomes pregnant and who desires to return to the employ of the board at a future date may be granted a maternity leave of absence without pay.” When I read this the first thing that I saw was married teachers. What if a single teacher got pregnant? Would she be fired? It very different from times now because if any women gets pregnant they get a maternity leave single or married. However, in this time if a single women got pregnant she might get a leave but not be able to come back. It shows how much the traditions and views have changed over the time.
