Matthew O’Donnell American Political Thought September 21, 2007 Response Paper In response the reading the Bill O’Reilly article. Which emphasized flaws in the political system that O’Reilly thought should be controlled. The first was immigration. He talked about how a large percent of Americans would like to enforce a militarized border and to stop the number of illegal immigrants coming into this country, the number of illegal immigrants he gave was 13 million. Person I used to think it wasn’t harming the U.S. that much until I realized it was that large. I understand people in the country now that are extremely unhappy with it. If it had been a million, illegal immigrants could be taking jobs for low wages which is not necessarily a bad thing. But the fact that it is 13 million illegal immigrants take the jobs of law abiding citizens is outrageous to me. The fact that there is an unemployment rate in this country, while 13 million illegal immigrants have jobs is absurd. This article made me think we should
