IntroductionIntroductionThe aim of this work is to tell what teachers should take into account in order to plan successful classes fortheir students.I had to teach in 1stand 4thyear of a secondary school as part of my teaching practices. So I worked withstudents from 13- 14 and 16- 18 years old. They were really different in terms of maturity, likes and dislikes, andof course, in motivation. It was really hard for me to adapt and plan my classes in context, since I got to dealwith a matter that I had never studied and considered about thoroughly. Due to the experience I got fromplanning classes for these groups of teens and being always avid for perfection, I decided to do my research onthe importance of teaching English in context. In order to explain the information I found, I am going to write, in a first part of my final report, thedefinition of context and the types of context we can find within the study of language teaching. Then, I will go deeply into setting a context for our own class, taking into account the importance ofcreating meaningful contexts and the difficulties we can find when doing so. Also, I am going to explain howcontext can help evaluation. After that, I will try to give some interesting ideas for activities that could be included in a lesson plandisplaying a dynamic context. Most of these suggestions are part of all the bibliography that I have consultedand studied during the years of training, other proposals are original ideas that I have created together with myresidence partner, Mayra Alferez.Throughout this research paper, I am going to tell about my own successful or unsuccessful contextualschemes while doing my practices. And finally, as a conclusion, I will give my point of view about the research I have done for this final report.Page3/23
ContextContextMeaning is created not only through what speakers say to each other but also through what they do withwords to satisfy the needs of their social environment.Meaning involves linguistic and situational factorswherethe context of language use is essential. This contextual use of language is what makes language uniqueto humans.
