There are two analytic approaches in validating research: quantitative and qualitative research. Quantitative research quantifies problems to explain a “phenomena” in which numerical data is collected, analyzed, and converted into a usable statistic (Polit & Beck, 2018). The research data can be descriptive or experimental and quantifies behavior, opinions, and other distinct variables. Quantitative research conducts research from a larger sampling size. Typically, quantitative research collects data from surveys, interviews, online polls, and longitudinal studies. Qualitative research is a narrative method of inquiry collected through exploration. The narrative data can be obtained fro having converstions with participants, making notes on behavior in naturalistic settings, or by narrative records (Polit & Beck, 2018). It is unstructured and therefore uses a smaller sampling size (Polit & Beck, 2018). This research data can probe into problems and create ideas for quantitative research.
