Excel 2007 – Unit A Getting Started with Excel 2007 I. An electronic spreadsheet is an application you use to perform numeric calculations and work with numeric data. a. Advantages of spreadsheet programs: i. Calculations are updated automatically when cell references are used in formula(s). ii. Data can be organized in several worksheets. iii. Easier to change the appearance of data (formatting). b. Advantages of using Excel i. Enter data quickly and accurately ii. Recalculate data easily iii. Perform what-if analysis iv. Change the appearance of data v. Create charts vi. Share information vii. Build on previous work II. Excel 2007 a. File extension is .xlsx b. Use the Office button in the top – left of Excel window. i. New ii. Open iii. Save iv. Save As v. Print vi. Etc.
