I used the Chinn and Kramer model to critique Madeleine Leininger’s cultural care theory. Based on this model I believe the cultural care theory is a midrange theory because it is not as complicated as a grand theory but not as specific as a situation specific. This theory can be tested is specific to nursing and does provide nurses with interventions that’s why I say midrange theory. I found it very interesting how much new information I learned about my theory through evaluating the theory. Cultural care theory focuses on providing culturally congruent care in order to promote health, healing and well-being of patients (Leininger, 2007). I’m pretty positive I can say this theory is congruent to 99% of nurses. The world is ever changing and we see many more multicultural people than before. Leininger's main purpose is to provide culturally congruent care to different cultures. It seemed to me that Leininger’s theory was simple because of how much she emphasizes how important it is to be culturally competent and sensitive. This part was the hardest part of the critique for me because
