Given that God is the onewho transforms, what IS to be the role of the teacher? Using the themes of Section One, using Scripture, and including other resources, compose a personal response of at least 350 words that frames how we are to see the role of the teacher/pastor.
The role of teacher is also related to the “Great Commission” in Matthew 28. Two elements give impetus to seeing it as possessing an equal or greater teaching focus. First, the role of the teacher to teach, acknowledging that there will be an instructional component to the church. Second, the roe of the teacher is “make disciples” which actually means “to make or cultivate learners.” The teacher should not only focus on the quality of the teaching alone but center on the learning (or maturation) of those who arebeing taught. The role of the teacher is also to empower the church by the Holy Spirit. Through teaching, the Holy Spirit convicts and guides Christians in various ways we can imagine (Ps. 119:13, 42-43, 46; Luke 12:11-12; John 14:26).
