Week 2 DB #1 The America Criminal Justice system is based on Beccaria’s work. To show how the American Criminal Justice System works and how Beccaria’s work has influenced the system. According to Sipes, Bernard, and Gerould (2019), punishment is equitable in the seriousness of the offense within the sentencing ruleoutweighing potential reward. Our system today is practice reducing crime. A goal of policy application isabout weighting the cost versus reward of crime. The goal is that the cost of crime is more than the reward. According to Barto-Bellessa (2015), by weighting rewards ad consequences of crime it is the freewill of the criminal. Creating limits to crime opportunities means giving criminals less options to commit crime. Cesare Beccaria has influenced our criminal justice system. Our criminal justice system was subjective to the enforcement of who was ever in charge around the time Beccaria’s work came out.
