Crime and the Bible 2What is Sin Nature?Sin nature is when man is making effects to rebel against God. It is about the choice of doing God’s will or dong out own will. As humans we tend to do our own thing. The Sin nature is part of us that impels us to commit sin. In the Bible it teaches us that we are sinful and have sin nature. In Romans 7:25 (NIV)25 “Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin” (New International Version, 2011). In Romans 8:3 “For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh.”(New International Version, 2011). As humans we are sinners in representation, nature, and practice. The sin nature comes from Adam and Eve, because they ate from the forbidden tree first and then there bloodline created sinful creatures. In Genesis 3: 6-7 “6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both ofthem were opened, and they realized they were naked; so, they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.” (New International Version, 2011). When it comes to sin we do not teach our children to lie or be selfish rather we teach them to tell the truth and to put others first. Our sinful nature come naturally to us and we have tofight our sinful nature. The bible explains that humanity is sinful and that is not just there but by our own nature. Sin is apart of us in every fiber, even our flesh and blood. In Romans 6:6 “For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.” (New International Version, 2011). In
Crime and the Bible 3Colossians 3: 5 “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.” (New International Version, 2011). The body we have here on earth is shaped by out sinful corrupt nature. In Psalms 51:5 “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.” (New International Version, 2011). In the bible, David is one who saw himself as sinful and recognized that even his parents were sinful. In Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” (New International Version, 2011). In Ecclesiastes 7:20 “Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins.” (New International Version, 2011). Weare all human and are going to make sinful mistakes. In Isaiah 53:6 “We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
